PITCH EVENT | INSIDE THE EDITORIAL ROOM

Following the success of our pitch event in Abuja, Cassava Republic is inviting writers back for another peek behind the curtain of the publishing process!

This time we’re in Lagos and Ibadan for an unmissable opportunity to learn how publishers and editors approach manuscripts, and pitch your own book ideas direct to us.

Not in Lagos/Ibadan? Stay tuned for future online and in person pitch events…

Join Publishing Director Bibi Bakare-Yusuf for a candid discussion on how manuscripts are read, assessed, and positioned for publication. Following the conversation, 5–8 writers will briefly pitch their current projects and receive live feedback focused on clarity, positioning, and readiness, rather than line-by-line editorial critique.

When: Friday 23rd May 2026 | 5.30PM

Where:Roving Heights, Landmark Centre
Plot 2 & 3 Water Corporation Dr, Oniru, Victoria Island

Limited slots available. Registration required

What to Expect & How to Prepare

Selected participants should prepare a clear, concise 3-5 mins pitch, focused in the work as it currently exists rather than what it might become. This will be followed by brief feedback from us and fellow participants.

This is not a writing workshop or an open submission session. It is a transparent look at editorial judgement, intended for writers who are serious about developing their work and understanding the realities of publishing.

What We Are Looking For

Strong, original projects with a clear point of view, purpose, and publishing potential, presented by writers who can articulate their work with clarity and confidently.

Genres we accept are: Literary Fiction, Commercial Fiction, Romance, Romantasy, Horror, Crime, Speculative Fiction, Non-fiction, Middle Grade, Young Adult (YA) and Children’s books.

This is a professional pitch environment, not a workshop or open mic. Participation does not guarantee a publication with Cassava Republic Press. Poetry submissions are not being considered.
