Writing sample. Include the first three chapters of the book you are working on for us to assess the content and your writing style. If you are proposing an anthology, include your introduction, proposed call for submissions, and a representative sampling of contributions. Research the competition. Do you know of any similar works that have been published? If yes, how does your proposed book compare and contrast with already existing works? Refer to specific authors and titles. What are the outstanding features of your work that sets you apart from potential competitors? Do you approach the subject from a different angle, include new coverage of the topic, or do you have some other element that will be irresistible to buyers? Target audience. Who is your core market? If it is for children, is it for a pre-primary school reader, primary school reader, secondary school reader, tertiary/university reader? What specifically would appeal to them about your book? What questions does it answer, or what needs does it fulfill, for this audience? Marketing
strategy. What do you envisage as the best distribution channel
for your book in order to reach your potential audience(s)? School / university / bookshops / giftshops / supermarkets
etc. What publications do they read? What television or radio shows
do they watch/listen to? Do you have any experience of public readings/public
speaking? Do you regularly speak to audiences on topics related to your
book’s subject? Do you write a regular column for a newspaper, magazine,
or website? Do you know anyone who does? State any contacts, affiliations,
or associations you belong that will help in the promotion of the book
